What to expect
Counseling is a process based on information. As a therapist, I need the information to help me see patterns and connect the dots. You need to provide information about your life to have productive counseling sessions. This includes details about your past, present, and future.
During our initial sessions, we will begin a journey of discovery to understand what is going on in your life. Your role requires talking about who you are and responding to my questions. My role is to listen, ask follow-up questions, and take notes to understand your life experience. Together, we will analyze your experience and set goals for your journey in therapy.
My approach is instructive, and I work best with clients who enjoy learning and exploration. I often provide readings and materials to review outside of our session.
I meet with most clients 2-4 times a month. Some long-term established clients may come less often. But it is essential to have a regular meeting cadence to ensure progress toward your therapeutic goals.
